We have performed at corporate and private functions including weddings, dinner dances and club events as well as birthday and Christmas parties. | The requirements of clients vary and we understand this. You may need a full night of dance or perhaps you would like to start off with some background music during dinner and then pick up the pace for the crowd to get down on the dancefloor. The band can be scaled down to a quartet or quintet when required. | The band has a large and ever-expanding repertoire of music ranging from the Big Band classics of Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie through to Frank Sinatra and modern jazz favourites from Harry Connick Jnr and Michael Buble as well as latin, funk, soul and rock'n'roll. | ||

Background
The band has a traditional big band setup with 15+ musicians making up the saxophone, trombone, trumpet and rhythm sections with vocalists joining the band for various events.
Performing regularly at a range of clubs, dinner dances and other corporate and community events, the band has also featured at a number of Australian Jazz Festivals, including Manly, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga, Kiama and Darling Harbour.
Blue Riff Big Band was formed as a community band for the youth of the northern beaches of Sydney in 1987. During the 90s the band evolved into a community band for adults devoted to continuing to pursue their love of performing although, for many, their career paths may have taken them elsewhere. As well as professional musicians, over the past decade or more the band has included members with a variety of occupations including doctors, engineers, accountants, scientists, teachers and business consultants, as well as tertiary students. Today the band's members range in age from 18 to 40+, many of whom have over 20 years of experience performing in big bands.
Some of Australia's finest artists have appeared with Blue Riff, including John Morrison and Don Burrows.
